Memories from Lois

I was still in high school and Ted invited me to Sunday dinner most every week. I said, "I want to sit by Mr. Ogden so I can be sure and get some food". The Ogden family enjoyed their meals. I remember being so impressed with one thing that always took place at meals. Mother Ogden never got up to wait on the table, cooking the meal was her job, but waiting on the table was the responsibility of her daughters. I thought that was a good idea.

One time I was riding down from the Ranch with Ted and Grandpa, a deer ran across the road. Grandpa stopped the car and got out, shot the deer, hurried and put it in the trunk and away we went.

Grandma was such a wonderful person. I loved her very much, and she was always good to me, I appreciated that very much.

The summer after we were married (1943) we were living at the Ogden house and at the Ranch. One day at the home in Richfield it was time to do laundry (men's garments). Grandma wanted them to be clean and white so she put a big pan of water on the stove to boil, then added Clorox. The smell coming from this duty was not too pleasant. Someone came to the door (I don't remember who), but they turned up their nose at the smell. I said "Oh, it's just Mother in the kitchen washing the men's underwear.
