Travels

Our first trip to California together came in 1927, but in later years we came to know the road down there very well, making several trips each year.

We saw the world’s fair in San Francisco in July 1939. Then toured north through the redwoods, and into Canada, visiting my Newby relatives and the Cardston temple.

We have been three times to Yellow Stone Park with different groups of our children, visiting the Idaho Falls Temple at one . . . (a line is missing) . . . George, Mesa, Los Angeles, London and Switzerland temples.

It was our great desire to go to the New Zealand Temple after being the Europe, but other things came about and father’s health began to fail. So that trip was postponed at the time, and never came while we were together. I do hope to go to the Oakland Temple while I am still here.

We have been to the east coast large cities together three times. We went to Florida, Cuba, and Mexico in 1957, and to Hawaii in 1953. I have visited Hawaii twice since father’s passing, with some of my children.

We went to the world’s fair in Belgium in 1958, when we toured many of the countries or Europe, and we also saw the world’s fair in Seattle, Washington with Mary and Ross and their family in 1961.

In the late summer of 1963, I went to Miami, Puerto Rico, Jamica and then to South America with Dale and Edna. There we met their son Steven when he finished his mission, and toured several of the south countries and Central America and Mexico. It was a very lovely trip, as were all others through our lives. . .
