Lois Sorenson Ogden 1923 - 2010

Lois was born on Ted's second birthday, 10 October 1923, in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Her family moved to the Richfield area and she attended school with Mary Jane and Ted in Richfield.

Lois tells about meeting and marrying Ted:

One night it was girl's choice night at the high school. And Mary Jane and I were friends and had invited two boys from Glenwood. We couldn't drive so Mary Jane said,"I'll see if Dad will let Ted take the car and drive us." After the dance he drove the boys back home, then took Mary Jane home. That's the night that was the begining of our short life together.

I started dating Ted when I was a Freshman in High school. While he was waiting for me to finish school he worked at the Ranch, attended school at Utah State and served a two-year mission. After we were married for less than a year he was drafted into the Army. I was pregnant with Tricia at the time, so it was a very lonely time. I loved Ted very much it was hard to not have him here when the baby was born; however he did come home when she was two weeks old to give her a name and blessing. I'll always cherish my life with the Ogden family.

When I was in high school, I was working late one night at Chesty's (a hamburger hangout). When I started to walk home I was walking fast, scared of running into a stranger that time of night. Suddenly there was a man walking towards me. He was walking kind of fast and so I turned around and started to run as fast as I could the other way. Then I heard someone call "Lois". It was only Ted, he had come to walk me safely home.

Ted and I spent some of our honeymoon at the sheepherd on the mountain. One day Grandpa came up to help for the day and ended staying the night. It was pretty crowded with three of us in one bed. Ted sleeping between Grandpa and me.
