We had only two and a half years together after our wedding anniversary, and a part of that time father was not very well. Though he never retired from active farm work, he didn’t labor as much as in previous years, but tried to manage the work and take care of the cattle some.
In September 1962, he became ill and entered the hospital in October. We had five months of anxious watching and he passed away February 26, 1963. He left us a heritage that can’t be excelled; ambition, which has rubbed off onto our family. So each of our children and grandchildren in their line of work stands shoulder to shoulder with the best.
